Introducing: JDX!

I have the privilege of working with one of the most talented musical composers/producers I have EVER seen.

JDX comes from Amsterdam where he is the man behind the world's leading dance event.....SENSATION.  

He writes the music and MAKES this show happen.  HMMMMM.... I think I may need to go overseas for a minute!  Who's with me??

"Wild Card" by: Sarah Maria and JDX

Here is song number 2 we have started called "Wild Card" Each part of the song has numerous harmonies ALL of which were done individually....NO COMPUTER TRICKS! :) JDX and I are having so much fun seeing what each day will hold. Each of the 3 songs thus far were recorded on the day they were written. I am so fortunate to be working with such an AMAZING producer!

So JDX and I have been extremely busy writing, recording, and letting our creative juices flow!  He calls it "the magical music click!"  (I agree)

Jimi Hendrix was playing as Jimmy James...

when Willie (Bill) Magee met, befriended and eventually joined up with Hendrix to form the band "Jimmy James and the Flames." In 1967, Hendrix went to England, and Magee took his newly formed band, the"Kansas City Playboys" on a tour around Europe.

The rest is history...now after a brief hiatus Bill Magee has felt the pull of the blues once again and come out of retirement. Catch a performance of his and see the best of Southern Blues music.

Nowadays, Bill Magee is one of San Diego, California's busiest working musicians. He can be seen around the greater San Diego Area.

I love jazz, so would it surprise you that I love red, black and white? 

When I hear words like JAZZ, FUNK, SOUL, AND MOTOWN

I get excited.  This is my chosen genre of music.  Jazzy and 

sassy....defines me.  I believe that the GREATEST music of 

all time stems from the era of JAZZ, FUNK, SOUL AND MOTOWN.

I want to bring back the sound of musicians that were

so discredited for being, in my eyes (and ears) THE GREATEST!

To give credit to a few of my musical influences: Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald,

Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughn, Aretha Franklin, Tina and Ike,

Earth, Wind and Fire, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson,

Jackson 5,  Marvin Gaye, Al Greene, Barry White,  and sooo

many more!

Present day influences: Joss Stone, Johnny Lang, Amy 

Winehouse,  Duffy, Melody Gardot....to name a few.

I'm working to form the project (yet to be named)

and so far have some AMAZING musicians ready

to go....for instance Corey Cofield, and Shaunte' Palmer!

hmmm..... wonder if I can snag fellow Montanan Jody Sappington.....

or....Seabass??

My first attempt with a new addiction....GARAGE BAND!

August 6, 2009 7:58 p.m.  (2 day project i started but wanted to share)

This is the result of an attempt at teaching myself a thing or two about MAC.... keep in mind there will be more of this.  :-)

Along with the career I've chosen come hopes, dreams, joy, happiness and also heartache.   My son is the love of my life, and not here with me.

But he IS here, in my heart.... so for my first project EVER ( August 6, 2009) I have decided to dedicate this to my son...Shawn Michael (6) who is my inspiration for living, my inspiration for my music...and the reason I will NEVER give up.  

I love you Shawn. YOU ARE MY HEART. YOU ARE MY DREAMS. YOU ARE MY JOY.  

Thank you for giving me a reason to wake up in the morning, thank you for being you.  Mommy will see you soon.....  My little man.

My past.....Suddenly I see

The old cassette tape still lingers in my ears.......

The trills, through my rendition of "twinkle twinkle little star.....how I wonder what you are...up above the world so high....like a diamond in the sky....twinkle twinkle little star....how I wonder what you are."  It was then I found my calling...I was 2.

Music has been my life since birth I'm sure.  Anyone who knows me, even a little bit, if asked will say...."she is a singer, it's what she loves, it's what she knows, it's what brings her happiness."  

KT Tunstall says it all with her song "Suddenly I see" so without further ado....I give you me.... in 2008 singing her song.....

New Beginning: Journey... NOT the destination.

Sarah Maria.  Who is she?  Maybe you know, maybe you don't.  Sarah Maria is a singer.  Sarah Maria has soul.  

I was born a singer.  I was born with music inside me. Music was one of my parts. Like my ribs, my kidneys, my liver, my heart. Like my blood. It was a force already within me when I arrived on the scene. It was a necessity for me-like food or water - Ray charles.

PASSION: a strong feeling or emotion.  I am passionate about my art.  My stage is my home. My microphone is my vice.  My addiction is music. As House of Vibe All Stars states in one of their songs.... LIFE.  LIFE WITHOUT MUSIC...... (quiet)   

My passion takes me to a place of comfort, solitude and serenity.  Free to create, free to observe, free to just be.  My freedom. My passion.  Never held captive.  The sky IS the limit.  Reach for the stars.  I will.  I am.  my passion will BE my freedom.
